The Center for Teaching Excellence and Innovation is looking for someone to teach the Preparing to Teach Online Course beginning in Fall 2020. At least once per semester you will teach an online course focused primarily on online pedagogy and best practices to up to 15 peers at Henry Ford College who hope to begin teaching online. Each iteration of the course lasts 4 weeks. You will have access to a course created by the current teacher consisting of the following modules:

  • Introduction (Start Here)
  • Course Design and Pedagogy in the Online Environment
  • Good Beginnings
  • Developing Content

You would be able to edit the content to suit your preferences and to add new content so that the course reflects current best practices.

Part-time teachers will receive a variable number of credits (currently one to three) of compensation based on the cohort size for teaching the course. Full-time teachers will receive a like amount of contractual redirect time or extra-contractual compensation for teaching the course.

To apply please write a one-page summary describing your interest and why you are qualified to teach the course by March 23, 2020. We will invite some candidates to meet with the CTEI Advisory Board the last Monday in April. The Board will make a recommendation to the VP of Academic Affairs who will make the final decision.

Please contact Jeff Morford or Pam Stewart with any questions.
