Students often complain about group work, even in courses they generally enjoy. As an educator, you are most likely aware of the negative impact that can come from a poorly matched group. However, it’s difficult to easily cultivate better group dynamics within the classroom
This 20-Minute Mentor (Opens in new window) discusses how to use free online assessments and classroom activities to help students learn more about themselves and their classmates which will, in turn, improve group dynamics in the classroom. The presenter will also explore how group dynamics can lead to stronger groups and better group-work results.
Upon completion of this program, you’ll be able to:
• Define “group dynamics”
• Describe the findings of studies on group dynamics and group work
• Discuss how to use free online assessments and activities to teach group dynamics
• Recognize that creating groups with dynamics in mind can lead to better results for the group
